Our company has partnered with Daido Life Insurance Company (President: Mutsuo Kitahara, hereinafter "Daido Life"), a member of the T&D Insurance Group, to provide the first-ever life insurance service in the industry.^(*1)AI and RAG are used in the medical judgment process for assessing benefit payments.^(*2)We will begin full-scale provision of our AI agent, "Benefit Payment Assessment AI," which utilizes this technology, from April 1, 2026.

In life insurance hospitalization benefit claims, there is a process to determine whether or not to combine hospitalization days based on medical judgment, considering past claims and the illnesses for which new claims have been made. In cases where this process is difficult to judge, the assessor has traditionally consulted with in-house doctors, which has resulted in enormous costs for preparation and waiting for responses.

Cinnamon AI has collaborated with Daido Life Insurance to develop an AI agent that can highly utilize their operational manuals and medical information through RAG-based generative AI.^(*3)We have implemented this solution. In approximately 70% of cases that previously required the judgment of an in-house doctor, AI can now generate medically-based judgments quickly and accurately, replacing the doctor's input. This has improved the processing speed per case and improved the service to our customers.The number of days required for payment is shortened.In addition, the duties of the appraiser and in-house doctor will be handled by:Approximately 1,800 hours saved per year.This is expected. By allocating the time saved to considering and implementing administrative processes that create the optimal customer experience, we will shift personnel to higher value-added tasks and further promote DX throughout the organization. In addition, less experienced assessors will be able to refer to and learn from the basis of medical judgments output by the generated AI.Efficiently acquire medical knowledgeFurthermore, we can expect a further improvement in the quality of the appraisal.

Cinnamon AI will continue to deepen its partnership with Daido Life Insurance, expanding the application areas of its AI agents and applying the verification and analysis results of AI-generated decisions to the revision of automated processing conditions, aiming to further improve the efficiency and speed of payment assessment operations.

"Flax Scanner HUB" is a highly versatile, original, and highly accurate AI-OCR platform that allows AI to understand meaning and read data from documents in various formats used across diverse industries and sectors, much like a human would. Conventional AI-OCR mainly uses a "coordinate definition type" that pre-defines the format for standardized documents, but it struggles to handle documents with countless formats. In contrast, "Flax Scanner HUB" can extract data with high accuracy even from unstructured forms that are difficult to read, without requiring complex prior settings. It is equipped with three different AI engines: coordinate definition type, feature learning type, and generative AI extraction type, and reads data using the optimal method for each type of form.
