Providing Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank with high-precision AI-OCR "Flax Scanner"

We have begun full-scale provision of our original high-precision AI-OCR "Flax Scanner" to Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited (President and CEO: Kazuya Oyama, hereinafter "Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank") for data entry of more than 5,000 private asset forms (hereinafter "fund contact forms") per year (such as unlisted stocks, real estate, infrastructure, credit, etc.).
As a result, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank aims to reduce manual data entry time by 1,600-2,000 hours per year and focus its personnel on core operations.

Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank previously manually entered data from documents related to private assets called fund contact forms. As the formats of the approximately 5,000 fund contact forms, which are generated annually, differ for each domestic and overseas asset management company, careful and prompt data processing by experienced staff was a bottleneck in improving operational efficiency.
Now, by introducing the AI-OCR "Flax Scanner," the AI can automatically extract necessary items from various fund contact forms, successfully reducing input time significantly. By having AI extract data, humans can focus on specific tasks such as checking, which also reduces simple input errors. In addition, the costs previously spent on training new employees for this task have been reduced, allowing personnel to focus on other core tasks, contributing to the promotion of in-house digital transformation.

Cinnamon AI has developed and is providing its original high-precision AI-OCR engine, "Flax Scanner," which allows AI to understand meaning and read data from documents in various formats in any business scenario, just like a human. Conventional AI-OCR mainly uses "coordinate definition type" that defines the coordinates in advance for formatted documents, but it is difficult to handle documents such as invoices, which have countless formats for each company. In contrast, our "Flax Scanner" has excellent technology for "feature learning type" that does not require prior coordinate definition, and is capable of reading a variety of forms and documents with high accuracy.
Furthermore, it can also extract information from industry-specific technical terms, drawings, and difficult photographic images, and has received high praise in this technical field, known collectively as IDP (Intelligent Document Processing, or automatic knowledge extraction technology), with papers being accepted at international conferences.
In addition, a new, highly versatile AI-OCR platform called "Flax Scanner HUB" has been launched, which allows easy use of Cinnamon AI's high-precision AI-OCR "Flax Scanner" for business purposes. "Flax Scanner HUB" is equipped with three different AI engines: coordinate definition type, feature learning type, and generative AI extraction type, and is capable of extracting data with high accuracy even from non-standard forms that are difficult to read. The feature learning type and generative AI extraction type do not require prior coordinate definition, allowing a variety of forms to be used in one stop.
