Cinnamon AI, PFU, Fuji Xerox, and Fujitsu jointly introduce AI-OCR platform to Dai-ichi Life Insurance. We aim to improve operational efficiency by approximately 40% by automating office operations.

Cinnamon Co., Ltd. (Representative Director, President and CEO: Mirai Hirano, hereinafter referred to as Cinnamon AI) provides Japan's leading artificial intelligence (hereinafter referred to as "AI") solutions, and Cinnamon Co., Ltd. provides the world's No. 1 market share in document scanners and ICT solutions. PFU (Representative Director and President: Kiyoshi Handa, hereinafter referred to as PFU), Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Koichi Tamai, hereinafter referred to as Fuji Xerox), which provides multifunction devices, laser printers, and solutions and services that contribute to solving management issues, Fujitsu Stocks (Representative Director and President: Takahito Tokita; hereinafter referred to as "Fujitsu"), the four companies have jointly agreed to in-force contracts with Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co., Ltd. (Representative Director and President: Seiji Inagaki, hereinafter referred to as "Daiichi Life") since June 2020. We will introduce an AI-OCR platform for the procedural processing (maintenance) area.

At Dai-ichi Life, we visually inspect approximately 70,000 documents, images, etc. per day on average in order to process changes to contract details and the payment of insurance claims and benefits. Up until now, we have been promoting automation such as digitization, RPA, chatbots, etc., but this time, by introducing an AI-OCR platform, we will not only be able to handle Dai-ichi Life's prescribed forms such as invoices, but also hospitals. It automatically reads approximately 700 types of forms, including non-standard forms such as medical certificates issued and health insurance cards used as identity verification documents, further streamlining administrative processing.

This platform realizes control based on the confidence level (*1) of the AI-OCR engine in recognition of all types of forms, both regular and non-standard, as well as character recognition. If the read information has a high degree of certainty, it is processed as is, while information with a low degree of certainty is automatically extracted and sent to the step of human confirmation and correction, making it possible to achieve efficient office operations. is. In this way, this is the first case in the life insurance industry (*2) to achieve automation using confidence levels, including non-routine forms.

In implementing the implementation, in addition to learning from each vendor by utilizing AI functions, Dai-ichi Life side has learned the handwritten characters of more than 200,000 medical certificates and invoices, including the names of highly difficult surgeries (see next page). By learning the following, we achieved an overall reading accuracy of over 90%. In the future, we will continue to learn about hospital-issued receipts and medical statements, which have a large number of patterns, and expand the scope of implementation.By doing so, we will be able to visually inspect documents in approximately 3 million procedures a year, and what they contain. We aim to improve the efficiency of input operations by approximately 40%.

*1: “Confidence” is the probability of correct answer for the OCR result calculated by AI, so to speak, it is the confidence level of AI.
*2: According to Dai-ichi Life research.

■Business content: Artificial intelligence product business, artificial intelligence consulting business

Cinnamon AI is working on developing advanced business AI solutions with the aim of creating a world where people can eliminate unnecessary tasks that occur on a daily basis and concentrate on creative work, and has a track record of providing them to many major domestic companies. has. In addition, we have established artificial intelligence laboratories in Vietnam (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City) and Taiwan, and have succeeded in recruiting a large number of AI engineers. Recently, in addition to the AI OCR "Flax Scanner," we have begun commercializing the specialized voice recognition technology "Rossa Voice," and have begun selling it mainly to major companies.
In addition, Cinnamon AI has many advanced AI algorithms based on three unique research areas: “Digitize,” “Structure,” and “Understand.” We are continuously developing business AI solutions that utilize unstructured data.

Most of the business documents used on a daily basis are unstructured and require human effort to incorporate into business systems, resulting in a lot of waste in white-collar work. Cinnamon AI utilizes an artificial intelligence document reading engine to fundamentally reform white-collar work. A variety of documents can be supported, including PDFs, Word files, and paper documents such as printed and handwritten documents. Currently, we provide engines to many major companies, including those in the financial and insurance industries, manufacturing industry, and logistics industry. Can be installed both on-premises and in the cloud.

■Overview of the voice recognition engine “Rossa Voice”

We provide highly accurate speech recognition by tuning the recording environment, technical terminology, and context for each company. In addition, by combining natural language processing technology, we can provide post-processing (information extraction, summarization, analysis, etc.) and even link with in-house systems, allowing us to do more than just transcribe. , essentially improving business productivity. Can be installed both on-premises and in the cloud.
